maybe that's why it costs more? People don't use as much... lots of months where I may only drive 400 miles in a month in an attempt to cut costs (I used to drive close to 2000 monthly before gas prices shot up :( )

and no winter heating bills either around here ... A/C is optional in most areas (we have a consistent 15mph breeze)

It's a great place to live as long as you don't suffer from Rock Fever

Aloha, Tim

Al Mialkovsky:
Rock Fever isn't nearly as bad as snow fever though right?

don't know - I've never suffered from that malady... then again -10*f with 12ft snow drifts sounds like where I want to take my next vacation

DiveMe:
We're going to be there from July 30-Aug 9, and try to get as much diving in as possible. Our first priority is getting our AOW, then we'll shore dive and do a charter to the Backwall. I'm sure looking forward to using my new BC somewhere besides a swimming pool!

I'm going to try to post when/where we're going to shore dive, likely the night before we go, so hopefully ya'll can do the same and some of us can get together to dive. FYI, we'll stay in Kaanapali, so most of our shore diving will be around that area for convenience.

Hey Tim, how much is a gallon of gas now?

Based upon very preliminary discussions, we hope to dive with Tim on Monday. Tim, what do you think...somewhere around Kihei (Makena, Ahihi ?) or up north Black Rock or Honolua (as long as you arrange for the Tigers to be gone).

My son hasn't dived in a year, so we will likely head to Ulua the 30th/31st for an easy 'refresher'..(I'll get him in the pool here)...if thats fits into either of your schedules and/or interests. I am really hoping shore diving is better this year.

Sorry to butt-in but couldn't resist... This is what an older cousin has told me more than once: "I don't have to swim faster than them. I just have to swim faster than you!" Ahhh, family....

We're doing out AOW dives on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, so probably won't shore dive until the 3rd. I'll do my best to keep my eye on the forum (I won't have a computer with me, so will have to use the resort's), and see if there's a time and place that works where we can meet you guys. Can't wait to get outta here...man I look forward to my yearly trek to Maui....

Abbenhuys:
Hey Guys,

I'm in the process of booking the vacation from the 8th till the 13th. I'm also just in the process of my OW cert.

Any suggestions for me? Hotel, beach/area of maui, other activities (luau), diving? Costs would be greatly appreciated as well (diving only).

I've heard about this catamarang (sp?) w/ a bbq, drinks, diving, snorkeling... anyone know about it?

Feel free to call me: 310-951-9399

Thanks,
Gerry

CAN'T WAIT!! :dazzler1:

Aloha

I'm also a relitively new diver as well as a Maui resident. I just completed my rescue dive cert. If you're gonna shore dive go to a place in kihei called ulua beach. There's a great stretch of beach with a side walk for about 1/2 mile. Fronting the Grand Wailea is a reef with max depth of 45 feet. Average depth 30 feet. Its also great for just having family or snorkeling.

Have a Great Time
