Has anyone dove in Bacalar lagoon? I read that it is freshwater? How cool; if so what was the dive op you used? Heading down July 12 and would love to make a trek.

I was going to dive Lake Bacalar...but after taking a look below...not much there. The water temp was pleasant enough, but the colors of the lake are unbelieveable. If you want to dive...try Cenote Azul.ffde31:Has anyone dove in Bacalar lagoon? I read that it is freshwater? Hi,Yes, Bacalar has been dived. Cenote Azul is 230' deep with an undercut starting around 20' with a few formations hanging from the ceiling, it is a deep and clear dive with not much to see.
All in all there are around 15 cenotes that are formed along the edge (both in and out of the lake) that have not yeilded any cave passage or any other interesting features.
There is a good article in Advanced Diver Magazine issue 9 if you are looking for more information.
