From what I have experienced, and having some Canadian diver friends, my belief is that if you politely inform Canadians of their faux pas they will be totally and sincerely apologetic. I believe we Americans tend to be less apologetic, even when we know we messed up.
My son pronounces the word "sorry" like a Canadian (sore-ee). I think it's from obsessively watching Linus Tech Tips (a YouTube channel filmed in Vancouver).

My favorite YouTuber just might be his compatriot AvE. I've learned a lot of words from him too :)
 
Whenever the elevator doors open up I assume its my floor ......... I guess that means I think the world revolves around me
