Hi There,

I'm a new member of ScubaBoard and this is my first posting!

I am traveling down to the Key Largo area April 22-26 for business and to get a few dives in.

I have never dove (grammer?) in this area and have no idea what the average water temp is so that I can figure which suit I should bring down with me...

Would a shorty/dive skin suffice or should I bring down something thicker? I'm from the New England area, so I have a full spectrum of coverage and thicknesses. I tend to "run hot" and prefer to wear something as thin as possible!

I dove there last month and the temps averaged about 70 F. Since I was doing as many as 4 dives a day, and as a videographer I had to ensure no arm shaking, I wore a 3/2mm full suit with a 3mm shortie over it and a 3mm vest under it. The full suit zipper was broken which was the reason for the shortie over it. I was warm.

I'd recommend a 5mm full suit given my experience last month. Water temps now may be a bit warmer. You say you dive warm so your mileage may vary. Enjoy the diving there.

I really like http://www.nodc.noaa.gov/dsdt/cwtg/ this is a part of the noaa.gov web site. Just click on the area of the country you want and it will show a list of temps in the area.

Key west is showing about 75F today and getting colder heading north, so I'll bet that Key Largo is around 73F. Have a good trip!
