Help!!!!! Scubaboard. I have been staying at the same bed and breakfast for the last ten years but they don't have availability for me this year. I am looking for a small and authentic lodging for two nights in January. It needs to be less than 110$ and sleep three separately. I am looking for a hidden gem. Any ideas?

Alicias Bed and Breakfast Cozumel Mexico/Cozumel Diving/Cozumel Hotel/Cozumel Scuba/Cozumel Snorkel stayed here several times....love it
What makes for "authentic" lodging? Your definition of this might help with recommendations.

There are plenty of affordable places in downtown where you can get 3 rooms for $110 dollars.I never pay more then $30 dollars and stay in nice clean rooms with TV,fridge and air,do some homework and google downtown Cozumel hotels.

Are you looking for 1 room that sleeps 3 separately or 3 separate rooms ?
Perhaps you may want to take a look at Villa Escondida. This B & B, is a true gem hidden in plain sight. It is located across from La Choza on Avenida 10 between Calle 3 and Rosada Salas. From the street all you see is a Red Door, however once beyond that point the property provides a wonderful escape from reality. At Villa Escondida you will find :
4 guestrooms,(separate from the owners home which is on site), daily maid service.
AC/ceiling fans, comfortable beds, large bathrooms

Well kept landscaped area
Common room with fridge, microwave, TV.
No phone or TV in the rooms
, but very good WI-FI throughout the property. On site telephone is available and messages left at the owners phone are delivered promptly. However, since the Wi-Fi is so good, it is easy to keep in touch with our dive op and family in the US via email.

Even though that the location is in the center of town it is amazing just how quiet it is. Walking everywhere is easy. The town pier where many local dive ops pick up and the central plaza are only a 3 min. walk away.

Well, I posted the link to your other thread showing that you booked at Blue Angel, but people are still suggesting Coz hotels.
I don't know the hotels on the mainland well. You may want to ask on the main Mexico forum. Google bought Kayak.com I think, but I still like shopping there. Since you ask for PDC-Tulum area, I ran a search in January for hotels within 25 miles of Akumal - which causes some confusion as the results included Cozumel too.
I still arranged results by price and looked over the list, but that didn't work.Next I opened separate tabs on Kayak to run searches on Akumal, Tulum, and PDC respectively...
Not many choices in the $100/night range in Akumal, I think that is a ritzy area, but there are a couple to consider. It's only 40 miles of good hiway from Tulum to PDC tho so let's look at others.
Tulum has lots of hotels reasonably priced, one 3 star listed at $26! Look over the descriptions closely tho as I have been disappointed in a some 3 stars (filed complaints to change ratings - grr!
) but I think you can find a nice one for less than $100, even 3 to a room. Arranging 3 beds in a room will always be a case by case challenge.*PDC has even more hotels to pick from, and 4 star hotels starting at $95. You'd still be close to many cenotes and less than an hour from Tulum. Kayak does list the Cielo which I hated once - but too late to complain about their rating. Lots of 3 star hotels starting at $57, and I like the location of the La Matatena Hotel, close to ferry dock.
You may well want to decide who you are diving with over there, then shop for hotels close to them. Kayak works well usually.
* Getting 3 divers in one room still boggles my mind. I just don't like to be that crowded! I'd rather spend more and get 2 connecting rooms if possible, share the space & bathroonms, and split the costs.

We enjoy staying at the Coral Reef Inn. Not a true B&B but very similar. The owners are great people and very helpful. It is located next to Corpus Christi Church and has a local vibe. The real neat part is they have an outdoor kitchen on the top deck that you can use to cook your own meals should you want to save money or not dine out. Here is the website
