100+ foot of vis on the outside of Eureka. Bait fish schools so thick you couldn't see the rig structure around you once you got inside. They literally obliterated the sight-lines.

Oh yeah, a juvy great white shark on the surface about 600 yards from the rig.

The first time I dove oil rigs was in Texas in 1972 long before we had them in Califorina.
Down there the divers wore helmets all kinds sizes. This made sense then, but I never see any in SoCal, why not ?
