aug 8-12 Key Largo? Lobster Season???

My hubby/dive partner and I were planning a long weekend in Key Largo Aug 8-12. Sunday I went diving in Jupiter and someone mentioned that it's 1st or 2nd week of lobster season??
and that we'd probably have a hard time getting accomodations this late???

Can anyone advise?

I recently inquired about a dive charter out of Daytona for the last week or so in July. I was told that the boat would be pretty much booked for the first few weeks of lobster season. I guess you get all the big ones towards the start of the season, or mini-season.

There's a link to some lobster info in Monroe County. I think there is a "mini-season" for like a week or two before.

I am pretty sure mini-season if 7/30-31 and then the regular season starts Aug 6.

I would guess hotels would be a problem, and assume most charters will be crowded & going to Areas where you can take Lobster.

Mini Season is the last consecutive Wed and Thurs in July (this year July 30-31).

Best time to go diving in the Keys unless you are hunting bugs, is the week BEFORE the season. I went down there last year...I think we had the Keys all to ourselves. Was pretty much deserted.
