Hop Devil:
If your talking about the same famous name deal that is often mentioned in these threads he will gladlly sell you the bolts for about $12.50 each. That's the hook on that deal the base package is attractively priced but any accessory you buy goes for 3x the going price. If you dive without the sta I can pretty much assure you that you will be ordering one shortly. It makes the whole set up more stable.
*nods* I know he sells them for 13.50 a piece...what I am pissed about is I actually asked him if those were necessary and he told me "No all you need is some zip ties to stop tacoing." He just lost himself some easy money!

Bobby F:
Don't worry about a trek wing tacoing it is fine for a single and zip ties will not change anything except maybe reduce the lift of the wing and make it look funky.

Bobby

That part I don't understand...if I zip tie the edges of the wing to the plate (through the eye holes), why would that reduce lift. Also i thought wings were supposed to stay as flat as possible which the zip ties should help with?

You don't need the bolts. They only help keep the wing in place when there is no tank attached.

Do you put the zip ties through the same slots that you thread the cambands through?

Random question, but how tight do you fix your harnesses? I've got the dive rite deluxe and was wondering how much slack to leave in it.

Thanks -Will

I'm guessing tight but not uncomfortable...that webbing will stretch a little bit.

As I understand the zip ties should go through the gussest eye holes...on the other hand does your wing even have those eye holes? It may be less of an issue with a doughnut wing - and most people here don't seem to think it's a big deal anyway. But for my part, I would prefer to anchor it firmly at all points.

akscubainst:
Dive Rite actually makes a couple bolts specifically for this. The cam bands will hold it all together but if it's off a tank, the whole thing is really sloppy. The bolts hold it nice and tight.

With a deluxe harness, you can leave some slack on the shoulder straps since later you can take up the slack with the sternum or chest strap

The zip ties are used in place of the bolts. You zip tie the wing to the plate using the bolt holes. It will work fine & you won't have to buy the bolts unless you just want to.
