Does anyone attach it 'upisde down'? I know that the common way is to have the valve pointed down the first stage . But I feel that the swivel point works best when is it pointed up. Is there a right or wrong way to oriente the first stage?

Not really, as long as all the hoses end up where you want them. With some regulators it can also help prevent it from hitting you in back of the head.

I've got my Legend first stage upside down. (with hoses configured that way permanently).

the first stage sticks out a little less past the valve that way.

I know several other people that I've noticed that do the same thing now.

Think you mean the rotating turret.
Mine is up,just for the reason you pointed out

I see people do that with mk25's all the time and it drives me nuts. If thats what you think is necessary then by all means but in my OCD brain it never works. it can make reaching your valve(s) harder as well or potentially create an unnecessary snag hazard depending on what reg and how its configured.

right thanks, the rotating turret. It give me more of a swivel and less of a hose kink. I know most people have them point down, just wondering if that was OK.

Don't think there is anything wrong other than a slight entanglement risk, but if you are doing recreational dives, that would not be a huge concern. The bigger issue would be constantly having to explain to the DMs that you want it that way. :)

Have you thought about angling it?

The 1st ~18 years I used my SP MK 10 I used it the 'regular' way...The last 2 years I've attached it 'upside down'---had to change over a couple hoses though but it's alot more comfortable now---guess I'm a slow learner....lol.....
