cstreu1026 once bubbled...

back when I was shopping for regs, I was told that the Z1 can be had in an environmentally sealed version. I think that would be first choice though the M1 is tempting.

I believe you mean the T1 (which would be the T1x if environmentally sealed). I don't believe either the Z1 or B1 can be env sealed. The M1 and T1x are.

All it takes to do environment sealing for all three regulators (T1, B1, Z1) is to fill the ambient chamber with silicone grease or christolube and place a trim ring where the original ring with holes used to be. This is true for all (I think) piston regulators.

The reason I mentioned ice diving and contaminated water, is that it seems to me a potentially messier solution compared to diaphragm regulators. Left in a hot car, it seems to me there would be some leakage, not to mention the mess when servicing.
But, I have never used one that was environmentally sealed in such a way, so maybe I'm wrong.

 Absolutely love my Atomic T2. And like a post above, would not trade the Atomic for any other regulator out there. This one has approx. 120 dives on it without a hickup and was just dropped off for its bi-annual service. The T2 is the 2nd stage titanium version for people that already had a 1st stage and didn't need the whole set. I am using the ScubaPro mk20 and they have been great together. My girlfriend has been using the Z1 set for about 8 months and again absolutely no problems and nothing but compliments....so much so that I just bought a Z1 set as a backup, pony rig, future doubles rig. Have heard nothing but rave reviews about the M1 as well. I have taken the Atomic Aquatics service / maintinance class and learned that all Atomic 2nds share the same basic design, only certain parts are different from each other. Their breathing performance is suppoded to be the same, yes, even the M1 is suppoded to breath the same as the Z1.

I've got the B1 and it's a great reg! :thumb:
I don't have a major problem with bubble interference, but I'm going to put a M1 exhaust T on it shortly and see what it does.

Hey Squid...its funny you say that. I just brought my T2 in and am having the B2 parts kit put on after the service is completed. The new B2's exhaust tee looks the same as the M1 but not quite as wide. That could be an option for you if you are interested in the new looks. It "B2 parts kit" appears mostly cosmetic except for the dual material mouthpiece and wider exhaust tee.

I didn't consider the B2's exhaust T, but I just went to Atomic's site and I see what you mean. I think I'll stick with the M1's though. It's still wider than the B2's and if I'm going to swap it, I might as well go all out. :)

I've only done a couple of dives with it so far but I can say this - it's so comfortable that I never think about it, I'm always focused on other gear (these have been new gear checkout dives).

They recently updated their website and it is much more informative than it used to be. Excellent photos and descriptions of their products. Has anyone tried or wanted to try the new 30 degree swivel?
