It doesn't come enviromentally sealed but can be done. I've used mine in water down to about 50 degrees without any problem but haven't used it in colder water.

I use a Z1 for an octo as well. I've never understood the idea of going with a cheaper reg that you may have to rely on in an emergency.

I just bought Apeks TX50's for my technical kit which will be used in cold water. I went with them because DIN Atomic is not readily available here and the TX50's are already enviro sealed. Not to mention they are considerably cheaper. I've heard great things about them and will get to test them this weekend.

Happy diving
Chris

I had an opportunity to speak to an Atomic rep this weekend
and here is what I was told:

The M1 (Monel) is a type of "steel" that is used because it
is safe for use in high-O2 environments (unlike Ti and brass)

The first stage has a swivel.

Monel is a nickel/copper alloy that is extremely corossion resistant and tough. It also has excellent high and low tempurature properties. Quite a bit like Titanium but not as light.

I know alittle about the metal (my brother is an outstanding machinist) but is the performance better/same/worse than the titanium/brass models? Have they changed the 1st/2nd stages? Is the change to the 2nd stage cosmetic?

I understand it is suited well cold water and comes o2 rated. Is it sealed? I am going to my LDS Sunday and I might try one out (in the pool for know) and try to get more info. I'll have to look out for the sales pitch!
