I have not seen the way the OC1 has been done, that said, here is my opinion.

The electronics in these devices should be encapsulated with stainless battery contacts. The only effect of a flooded battery compartment should be a junk battery that needs to be replaced. There are very good products out there that are cheap and easy to use to encapsulate electronics.

I would like a firmware update for the atom 2.0 as well.

I would like access to the stop watch in dive mode.
Seconds display on the dive time would be great.
current depth and dive time always on the screen somewhere, this is critical for tech
Helium algorithms, why have a 3 gas computer if you can only use nitrox?

Better price point, I refuse to pay $1600 for the OC1. There is not anything in that computer to justify that price. I was on the fence about the Atom 2.0 at $900.
I would pay for a firmware update that was a feature set increase, not just bug fixes.

I thought that I would start an Atom 3.0 wish list of changes / upgrades over Atom 2.0. Here are mine:
1. Deep Stops
2. Ability to cancel Safety Stops
3. Longer strap (i have thick wrists)
4. Clear markings on control buttons (use description rather than symbols)
5. Ability to see total dive time when in safety stop on main screen
6. Being able to set/reset Altitude manually.
7. Slightly larger face.

You can turn the safety stop function off, The longer straps are harder to do what about somebody with a smaller wrist. Everything else look good.

fppf Oceanic does not make a trimix computer why would they make it function like one. Their computers are for recreational diving

Being a proud atom 2.0 owner, i didnt read the manual other than scan for a few pages and am happy with it, I figured eveything out after about 10 dives. A compass feature would be kinda slick but would be a hardware change. I think a 12 hr nofly with 24hr on violation and multiple dives would be nice. I also think that the hook up to the oceanlog is a bit more of a PITA than it should be, and the rubber scuff guard when i go to put it on for spearfishing and lobstering is really tight and am afraid of breaking something.

The isolating the battery from the rest of the electronics to prevent flood damage other than ruining a battery is a good idea, but maby we could brainstorm a nonconductive grease to fill the compartment completely with so there is less room for water to enter. it would save size requirement and weight.

maby when you all release a different comp that is comprable but better offer a trade in where you could refurbish the trades and resell for discount compared to new with like a 90 day warrenty then it would encourage people to spend like 300-500 on a new comp rather than another 1k or so

And which recreational diver uses 3 cylinders with mixes of up to 100% oxygen

I would also 2nd the manual rewrite. I am a new diver with my fancy new toys. I am also a computer engineer and written my fair share from BIOS, to drivers, to business systems. The manual is overly confusing for a new diver and required me to reference many other sources. Even if there were links on where to read more, that would help. I did figure everything out, but not without a lot of pain. My 17 year old daughter could not. It took me to explain it to her. (she is an honors student used to studying and computer "toys").

Also add a marking on the bezel for each of the buttons I know I will get used to it eventually, but even a dot, dot dot, dot dot dot, dot dot dot dot. would work and reference the buttons in the manual as such. Because even after I figgured it out, I dont refere to the buttons as A S M ... I refere tot them as position with my daughter.

The DiveLife website mentioned earlier now has a number of new models that do not yet appear on Oceanic's site:

Atom 3.0 - products_id=3957

Geo 2.0 - products_id=3956

VT 4.0 - products_id=3955

Sorry...I do not have enough posts to be able to post hyperlinks. There isn't much info on the site at the moment but they do have some pics that I've attached here for convenience.

I talked to Oceanic today because my Atom 1.0 has to be sent for calibration service which cost 165.00

I have the option to upgrade to a Atom 2.0 for $250.00, but the good news is that the Atom 3.0 will be in the market in the next month and I could upgrade to the 3.0 for the same money. :D

The unit is under final testing, if everything goes OK, it will be in the market in 30 days.

This probably isn't realistic for the 3.0; maybe the 5.0 or 6.0. But here goes.

Following up earlier comments about the complexity of programming dive computers with different settings, I'd like 2 things:

1.) A computer software program with a great, friendly GUI interface for adjusting settings (e.g.: setting the computer for Nitrox EAN 32) - taking advantage of the much larger screen real estate and menus on a laptop to simplify getting things done.

2.) Bluetooth or other wireless capability to bypass the need for the download cable, allowing the work done in 1.) to adjust settings fast & easy, and the dive computer to send dives to the computer wirelessly, too.

Now, THAT would be a nice pair of advances on most ANY dive computer, I'm thinking.

Richard.
