Asking for a friend...Apeks Purple Spool with Orange DSS DSMB lost near Paradise Reef

Normally, "my friend" could care less about losing a $10 spool & a $30 DSMB...BUT...this one is the ridiculously overpriced anodized aluminum purple spool by Apeks. Easy to spot with the bright orange line and the bright orange DSMB.

Had it clipped to a D-ring on the BCD. NOTE: the spool did not separate from the double-ender. (Used the line-looping method to prevent that). The double-ender that attached the spool line to the BCD D-ring somehow opened early in the dive.

Oh well...I know it's a long shot.

Same thing happened to me 3 weeks ago there. My spool is the Apeks knockoff (green colour).

It's OKAY if you have a purple spool...... No one will judge you for it.
