I can honestly say that I am very ashamed of some members of this board. Recently, we had a VERY HIGH profile member of the INTERNATIONAL dive community join our board and certain reactions from members left me at awe.

This person even stated that the reason he was introduced to our site was due to a friend telling him his company/products were getting bashed over here pretty hard.

I am not saying that everyone should kiss his arse, but when someone like this joins our community, we should really be thankful and step up our thinking caps when responding. An obviously busy person does not have time to deal with immature and pointless PM's or posts. A proven individual in the International dive community deserves a warm welcome.

I really wish some members would have thought twice before posting.

Please don't think me ignorant, but first off who is the person and secondly in what forum was the discussions going on?

This thread is what Jepuskar is referring to.

I think the reason he is here is to help understand the complaints folks have, and to try to fix them to the best of his ability.

My guess is that he will take the comments in stride and work to win back the naysayers.

The man responsible for the philosophy, training agency, and gear manufacturer that has touched off more flame wars, verbal confrontations, and a$$ kissing than anything dive related ever has should be used to the bashing if he's spent anytime at all on the boards, as he stated he has.

Geez, the guy is here because someone was bashing his products. And the someone goes on to describe the why's and where for's of the problems described instead of getting all fuzzy that JJ has posted to an interent board. You don't feel that this customer has a right to voice the issue with gear that has prompted the man's visit? What's really inappropriate is all those chiming in about "How extrmely happy I am with...Halcyon product X".

Hopefully the guy will make right some of the wrongs so that we hear good things about the company from those negatively affected individuals, otherwise it's just a PR stunt to appeal to the legions and divert attention from the bad CS stories. I'm more interested in the addressing of his customer service issues than how you are learning to dive his gear. I've heard enough complaints about the CS at Halcyon that I'm quite hesitant to make any purchases from them until I hear they've made some real changes.

Jason- I couldn't agree more. Generally speaking, I think there is a lack of basic respect on this, and most other internet boards. It's like people use the anonymity the internet provides to let the worst side of themselves show.

I also think too many people lack either the maturity, or writing skills to express a disagreement without letting it degenerate into a cyber-shouting match.

I too, was disappointed with the overall tone of that thread.......

There are certain ways to voice a complaint, and there are certain ways not too. I really wasn't even talking about the complaints.

It is inappropriate to compliment the CEO of a company on their products? You may be a very negative person, but when I have a good experience with a product, I make sure to let someone from that company know. I have done this with several products I own, Scuba and non-scuba related. Those of us who deal with problems/complaints all day long know the feeling when someone goes out of their way to say 'hey, your doing a good job'.

Your opinion to Halcyon is obviously based on a biased opinion, probably based of off a bad experience with their products. That is a shame as all of my Halcyon equipment works great. I will continue to support Halcyon and will offer my wonderful experiences with anyone who is interested in listening or learning about the products. I don't think that is inappropriate at all.

Yeah, I kind of had the same thought you did reading through that thread Jason...especially after roak posted what he did about verification. Some people have not gone back and apologized....frankly if it were me, and I had my foot crammed in my mouth, I'd be looking for a way to bail myself out, but that's just me.

EDITED TO ADD: Sorry to James...I see you have gone back and apologized
