Members of the Armed Forces of Malta this morning rescued a diver who found himself in difficulty in Mellieħa.

In a statement the Armed Forces said that the Rescue Coordination Centre received a call this morning from the 112 emergency line that a diver was missing in the area of Anchor Bay.

They said that different land, sea and air units were sent to the area to search for the diver, and he was eventually rescued in an operation held in conjunction with the Civil Protection Department.

He was checked by a medical team at Mater Dei, who certified that he was in good health.
