Looking for some local opinions on the difficulty level on diving the following wrecks. The list is geared toward AOW and maybe those transitioning into beginner tech dives. Please rank them from the most difficult to the least. Be subjective....I'm looking for personal opinions. Thanks.

PS Please add one if I forgot.

i dont think the nina t really exists much anymore.
blac point is actually 2 different sites, bow and stern. stern section is small but ez to navagate around, and has lotsa marine life. about 85 FSW
the bow section is 110 FSW and had quite a bit of relief. viz can make it easy to miss the upline. so mabe a strobe on the line...
the 853 is easy to navagate around, even in limited viz,
with a max depth of 130 ish FSW some will get narced, but its not a difficult dive
Pinthis is easy to nafavate even tho its flattened down some over the past few seasons.. viz is usualy good and you get a max depth of about 100 there, average depth will be 90 ish
thats all i can really give you for current this year conditions..
and all thats based on no pennatration also

“Difficulty” is a subjective and varying concept. Each of those dives can be very nice and easy - most of the time. Personally, after diving all that you have on your list on several occasions, I can say that the scariest dive I ever had was on the Blackpoint. It was a zero vis, high current, working in the wreck to free the hook nightmare. Until that dive I had several great dives on that wreck.

What I’m trying to say is that none of those wrecks are typically “difficult” - on most days. But there are times, when diving almost any wreck, that it’s better to crawl back in the boat and try it another time. Knowing when to do that, will help to enjoy this sport for a long long time. Difficulty in a dive is not so much about depth (hardly), it’s more about what you encounter once you get to the wreck.

As for the wrecks on your list, in most cases, I think anyone with AOW, and experience with diving the varying conditions in New England, can safely dive (non-penetrating) any of them. As for ranking them - I think there are too many variables to be able to do so accurately.

Regards,
Capt. Dennis St Germain
