Started this on the fixitboard. Got a few laughs, so I thought we could continue the discussion here! :eyebrow:

Ok, so I know there's DIR, PADI, NAUI, GUE, YMCA, etc... These are all certfying agencies, right (ok, maybe not, but let me continue...)

But, what really matters is your style, or rather, choice of dives. Herein the question lies: Are you a Cheap *** Beach Bum or a Warm Water Wussie? (hereafter refered to as a CABB diver or Triple W diver).

The former (CABB) dives a lot (off the beach, so he/she is only paying for the air fill), usually in cold or temperate waters, may occassionally go on a boat, but generally looks for a good local deal (not travel), and wears their wetsuit until the holes are big enough for full grown Black Sea Bass to swim through.

The latter (WWW) may rarely dive, however, does go on exotic dive travel to ONLY warm tropical waters with lots of "pretty, colorful fishies." :10:

So, which are you and why? :06:

CABB- This is FL, why go to dive on a boat when there are MILES of great beaches to dive from. Thats not to say there aren't great sites off shore to dive on, but you can do 3-5 sets of shore dives to every boat dive cost wise if you have to travel.

I'm a CABB by definition, simply because I live in the frigid confines of the northeast and wish to dive year-round. I do plan to try and take at least one dive trip a year to an exotic (or semi-exotic) locale, but fact of the matter is that 99% of my diving will be done within 3 hours drive from my home. My work schedule just doesn't permit anything else. Besides, when diving in low 30-degree, 5-10ft viz water becomes status quo, going somewhere like the Keys/Cayman/Belize will be like heaven. ;)

*Edit - That is not to say that some of the best wrecks aren't up in this area, but as you have already guessed, those boats can't run on ice. :(

The way I look at it, BT is BT, no matter when, where or how. :bravo:

Ok where am I? Is the scubaboard? Or are back on the temp fixit site?
As I said before, just a whimpy www right now. But after getting more experience will try to grow up and be a cabb someday.

I am a full blown WWW! however since I got certified I have been going on vacation every month Hawaii, Florida (now), Belize in Jan...I like to go deep, stay wet and warm

Neither. I do boat and beach dives at home and then love to travel to the warmer waters and dive. So what does that make one? I guess gainfully employed, lol.
