Are there many diving pilots out there?

Yeah I think I had a Navy pilot flying when I landed last week in Atlanta.

Hey, that was probably me. I forget sometimes after flying for the Navy and then going back to the airlines. Besides it's a great excuse for a bad landing. When I smash one on I usually tell the Pax's that I was doing a carrier landing demo.

At least when ya pranged the thing in you didn't get on the intercom and say, "Ah, sorry folks, I missed the #3 wire. We're going have to do a go-around and shoot that one again."

I dive regularly with a co-pilot for a commercial airline. I notice she performs a methodical check of her gear and is someone who is very reliable as a dive buddy. She's also an excellent instructor with her students. Consider yourself forunate to have the opportunity to take yourselves to your dive destinations.

My husband is a private pilot, IFR certified and working on commercial. I was VFR certified, let it lapse. We started diving 20 years ago, got into flying 5. Definite YES to all. Think about it, they require alot of the same knowledge, skills, and analytical ability. Especially: knowing your true physical capabilities, being able to assess situations, and navigating of course.

I find flying RC planes to be more interesting than full scale. The results of overconfidence and risks are a little more acceptable but making it look truly realistic is an art.

With RC you can certainly do a lot more stunts. The price of screwing up on that high-speed inverted low pass is much less than full-scale, too!
