I have heard that posieden regs. are very good cold water / tech regs.
But they have alot of parts and are a :butnhome: nitemare to tune and work on.
Is this true?

Woops, double post.

They are great cold water/Tech regs. They are really rather simple and easy to work on, but they are different than "conventional" regulators, require a few special tools, and some different approaches. Think SAAB 900 vs. Ford F-150.

Poseidon regs good for tec cold water dive but too expensive for me

Yeah, with the Cyclons there's a bit of 1/8 turn, reassemble, 1/8 turn, reassemble, 1/8 turn, reassemble, 1/8 turn, reassemble ... woops ... too far ... back not quite an 1/8, till you get the "feel" for it.

Never had any trouble with poseidon cyclons in cold waters and I've been in some nasty places. The regulators are childplay to open up and clean, the most simple regulators on the market. Before I switched to a full face mask I was using a 10(think its almost 10....) year old cyclon and it never faulted.

Ok so the poseidon regulators are actually fairly easy to service provided you have the right tools.

I was always under the impression that poseidon were difficult. About a year ago I completed the poseidon technician course and discovered this was a myth. They are actually really easy to service.

The problem is that they are completely different to most other regulators on the market and require specific, rather expensive tools to serviced properly. They can however be serviced without most of the tools although this makes things a little more difficult.

The other problem with being different is that not everyone can service them. If the people you are buying them from have the right tools to service them and are properly trained then they are great regs and are definately worth spending the extra $$$ on.

If you plan to service them yourself then perhaps look at other regulators.

Well
A friend of mine who was a big defender of posseidon just froze his one....So he sold them and got apeks. And here we dive cold water....

Mania

Well i have used the jetstream for 11 years and i will simply not beleve that it frose.
i have used it in Extrame cold water for 70 minutes with out problems so if it was maintaiened and it good shape i will have to see it frese before i buy it.
But of course the weakest point is the frese guard - but if you know that and take care of it is is perfect.
i own 3 poseidon 1 stage and 2 second stage and i have never had any problem with them exept for 1 time due to my own bad cleaning on my 2 stage after saltwater (ups 6 months in the bag is not good)
