To be perfectly honest, I think the LB Aquarium kind of stinks compared to the few others I have been to. One reason is the price, I'm sure it's better now but when I took my fiance, girlfriend back then, it was $18.50 for an adult ticket. Here's my Rankings.

1. Baltimore Aquarium
2. Waikiki Aquarium tied with AQuarium of the Americas (New Orleans - if it's still there)
3. Birch Aquarium at Scripts (La Jolla/San Diego)
3. Aquarium of the Pacific
4. In a very last place, our national aquarium in DC, what a disappointment, the coolest thing they has were horseshoe crabs

Early in its development I had a number of concerns about AOP. The leadership at the time seemed largely focused on marketing and seemed to have no clear understanding of the biology and maintenance issues, or education. I was one who reviewed their initial collecting permit and felt it was woefully inadequate.

However, their "new" leadership seems to have a much clearer idea of what has to be done in these areas and I am pretty optimistic about it. I know my nephew from Atlanta enjoyed visiting it when I took him over. I did too.
