Dove at Aquarena Springs today, their compressor is on the fritz. So bring additional gas to do your dives.
Good to hear. I'll be there for three days. I suppose they'll shunt me off to the LDS if push comes to shove.

I agree with Tex....if we lived closer and could go on a regular basis, it would be worth it. But $400 for the two of us is a bit much for only occasional use.

I know, we've let that stop us too. But now, I'm starting to look closer at the economics of it. Even if we just went back two weekends a year, that's about the cost of dives (ONLY) for two divers/4 days in Coz. A trip to San Marcos is lots easier on the pocketbook than to the Caribbean. Maybe we could do the course together. Would it be too tough to try to get some Swampdivers together to do the course/dive, if there were enough interest?

Just got back yesterday from Aquarena. Had a fab time. The gar are out and all over the place. A lot are torpid in the submerged weeds, and you can pet them without much difficulty. I tried petting some of the bigger turtles, but apparently the cold hasn't slowed down their quick reflexes much. They're still a tough bunch.

The springs are still bubbling away like mad; some places have weird nepheloid-type layers that you can "disappear" your whole arm down into without feeling any sediment resistance. I'll post a picture of someone doing just that.

Reconstruction of the archaeology site is progressing. The old PVC grid has been moved off to one side, and preparations to build sediment retaining walls are starting. On Wednesday I put in some fenceposts to mark the wall locations. One of our posts drilled right through an untapped spring, and now its fountaining out around the post quite prettily. Ethan thinks the site can be entirely renovated by this spring.

The compressor's back up and running too. It was a simple fix.

Dang, that's a lot better viz than we had

Cool stuff.

ha ha Scott, those weren't even "good vis" days. You should see the clarity in the summertime, when the sun's out. The vis is better than in Bimini.

It also helps when you don't have a dozen+ marginally acceptable divers crammed into a confined area. I should have made our November group remove their fins and swim with their hands... certainly not the first time I've made divers do that.
