I've aquired an AL TItan first stage with a AL Core 2nd stage. No octopus on it, as its for a pony bottle currently. Any problem mixing and matching these two? I can't seem to find this combo available as standard. If its OK, what octo should I put on this setup? Cold water is my primary diving.

The core 1st is essentially a titan in a different body; but even if that wasn’t the case, all that matters is the IP that it’s set to at servicing; once you get the 1st stage to spec, the 2nd should be tuned TO match it

All and all, they’ll work well together

As for octo I always try to match the main 2nd; but octo on a pony.. idk, I’d personally just have one 2nd

Personally not a big fan of the core 2nd, I don’t use mine (bought the set used for the 1st) and use a g250 instead; but that’s more of a personal preference

I don’t think it’ll stay on the pony is what I’m saying

🤦🏽‍♀️my bad
Ah well, whatever 2nd stage you like, ultimately not a low performing one like the aqualung ABS
From a IP sepcs pov, any AL/Apeks/SP/Mares will be in the manufacturers range
I still vote g250 😅

Yeah, the ABS breathes like crap. The only good thing about it is that it breathes the same - like crap - in either orientation.

I like the Core second stage and always thought it is a good balance (pun) between price and performance. Not a G250, sure, but few are.

It carries just the core features that count😅

I got a core supreme 2nd that I don’t use If you’re interested

I am in a 12-step program to reduce my regulator hoarde but thank you --very generous 😇

you and me brother, why do you think I offered

The Core first stage, as already stated, is a Titan first stage. AL rearranged the same old tired parts they have been using since circa 1965 (Royal master DH reg first stage) and added the ACD. It is a fine first stage. The Core/Titan LX second stages are excellent second stages. Reliable and breath perfectly fine. They are essentially the same as a Legend without the tension knob. They performed top of class in the last ANSTI tests that were published years ago. And equalled the Legend. And the Legend was not and is not some sort of slouch regulator. That said, ;), it ain't no G250/G260 (actually, it might just beat a G250).

Caymans, about 15 years ago, Titan LX:

I have a NIB Core plus Core octo. I guess I am saving it for a rainy day now being all in on Scubapro ;).
