Finally, something to get folks away from complaining about Avelo :)
Well, they can partner with avelo and combine both things..

The regulator with its suite of sensors sends direct messages to avelo to automatically use the pumping system, making it an autonomous auto scuba system, for example to help novice divers avoid crashing into the sand bottom, or auto limiting depth? Insurance companies will love that, a system that inhibits divers from passing their depth certification? Maybe use acoustic sensor to automatically send offenders a ticket fine directly to scuba police?

Personally, I like the idea- why not integrate the AI transmitter right into the first stage?
If it breaks, as all electronics eventually do, you're now out both a reg and an AI transmitter, whereas before you could have a spare AI transmitter and be good to go, thus not ruining your vacation. Additionally, what's the benefit of integrating them? A transmitter that screws on allows you to mix and match (if, for example, you have several regs you use for different dive conditions), allows multiple regs/types of regs to talk to the same computer (if you want a cheaper regset for your pony/stage than your main gas), and allows the option of using different computers with the same reg (less likely, but I could see a parent or dive guide using Garmin with a large group and then using an RF transmitter of some sort when alone, to avoid the supposedly annoying chirp.)

Fully automated diving system with auto buoyancy management, tilt/roll compensation, gas reports, and messaging? No diving course required

Two problems, one it needs this so you can pull divers over who do not air integration, breathing rate, real time SAC, Avelos, artificial intelligence and Siri built in and could care less. Of course I would want to shop for China junk on Amazon while diving and a memory chip so it could store my orders and then wifi them to a base unit included once I surface, or preorder happy hour drinks, now that could be useful!!!!!!!!!

The other problem is you are supposed to dive horizontal and how do I integrate that into my Hogarthian harness?

I will take an inertial guidance computer built into my Shearwater Peregrine. There have been a few times, once or twice anyways, where I got my directional wires crossed ;).

I would personally kill for a aviation-style display on my Peregrine like what Boeing uses on their planes:

I think Shearwater should make a laser ring gyro and tilt/yaw sensor module for navigation and roll/trim indications.

I just assumed the LEDs were so we can each have a different color beacon while night diving. Having that built in would save a beacon knocking around my tank which would be nice.

But I agree this smells like a PE team hype-job to drive investor interest, especially the venue choice of CES.

You thought it was bad on a cattle boat with fifteen computers beeping for one reason or another near the end of the dive...

Now we're gonna be predictive!
GTR! And lights!

Aqualung does not deserve to live.
But my heart bleeds for the US Divers heritage.

I may have to start cave diving, just to get away from everybody.

That’s…actually on the cheap side. I mean, it costs more than my regset and bcd combined, but it’s cheaper than a MK25 titanium by half the cost. Of course, how much do the accessories cost?
