SCUBAPRO-UWATEC are Mac compatible. You will need to download J-TRAK. It is not supplied with computer. It is available from a link on thier website. It is a simpler version of SmartTRAK. The IrDA USB 2.0 will work on a MAC without any driver issues.

J-TRAK - SCUBAPRO-UWATEC

Sorry if this is a silly question, I have down loaded J-Track, what is or how do I use an IrDA USB 2.0? Thank you.

Did a quick search, now I know what they are, so I take it Galileos are not bluetooth equipped?

UWATEC uses only USB Infrared interface. Accessories - SCUBAPRO

The Galileo series only have limited features with JTrak. You can't edit your computer preferences and send via the IrDA; you can only download your dive statistics via IrDA.

If anyone is looking for a watch like mentioned throughout this thread...hang tight

If all goes as planned with getting my patents processed and a manufacturer (hopefully Citizen &/or Apple due to their current patents will complement mine), to build the dive watch/computer...it should be a big hit throughout the dive community. :crafty:

I am still in the write up process, but hope to get the idea patent pending soon. Once that is obtained, I can leak information on the setup.

The Oceanic computers are compatible with the Apple iMac and you can not go wrong with an Oceanic computer.

+1 for MacDive. I love it for my Cobalt! Not only is it very "mac-like", but the support is great. The developer, Nick, has been great at answering questions on the support website. I'm happy to have paid for MacDive.

Also, with respect to the Uwatec computers... When using a Mac, you have to use the official (i.e. dive shop expensive!) Uwatec IR dongle for it to work natively with the Mac. I spent weeks trying to figure this out with my Uwatec SmartCOM. I thought "If my Mac Book has IR built in, why can't I use it with my SmartCOM?"

It's because the built-in IR is only on way: receiving. It's designed specifically for the little remote that controls iTunes and Front Row.

For a bit of sad irony, it turns out that you can use almost any manufacturers IR transmitter (i.e. Radio Shack cheap!) when running Windows XP in a virtual machine on a Mac. It turns out that it has something to do with the way the OS works with each specific IR chipset. Microsoft has an abstracted IR-architecture (hence the multi-vendor support), where as OS X requires a specific, low-level interface for each chipset.

I could be wrong, but at least that's what I've been able to surmise.

The Sensus Ultra data recorders have Mac support, as do the Liquivision Xen and Xeo. The X1 has a Mac compatible logging program for MultiDeco.
