I am in the process of buying the gear I need to take my OW classes. I have my mask and snorkel but still need fins. I can get a pair of Apollo Protege's for free. Should I take them or am I better off with something else?

I ask because I wanted to buy my booties and fins at the same time to insure the best fit. If the Protege's are good I will take them and buy booties that fit right with the fins.

That is a nice fin. It will work very well for you. If I remember it is a little heavier than most, but for free it'll be perfect. Later you may want to upgrade to a little better performing fin, lighter, more thrust, easier swimming etc.

Hope you enjoy your ow course and experience.

Best,

I will take them then.

They did seem heavy to me but I am used to shorter fins for boadyboarding that are way lighter.

Thanks for the info.
