faceless - it's hardly the sub $1000 rebreather that it was touted to be
almity1 - why did you end up going down the RB route?
Not necessarily in this order....
- The Photography angle and Wildlife Interaction
- Allowing more time underwater, refer above #1
- The efficient use of gas
- Longer Dive Times and Less Deco obligation refer above #1
- Picking your set point or Partial Pressure
- Trying a different type of diving
- The ability to go deeper with minimal upgrade and cost eg TRIMIX
At this point I have only dived within Rec Limits, and that was my intention all along regardless of the unit.
What initially got me interested was being involved with a video - photo shoot with a crew from National Geographic crew while they were filming the Grey Nurse Sharks in Sydney about 5-6 years ago.
All the crew were diving Inspos and I was their guide. As I got talking to them the reasons the reasons for usings RB was mentioned above and only a few of them went deep or have been deep with a RB at that point of time.
I have no regrets and once you are over the buyers remorse and your buoyancy issues, you can describe RB diving as "frictionless", you will be surprise, breathing in out out in OC holds you back in the water column.
But thinking back, maybe it may have been a good idea to get 2 Sports KISS's and getting my wife involved as well.
