There is FAQ on sport model available here:

rebreather & monitor costs 2500$ - a cost of good OC rig, so IMHO price is comparable
consumables expenses are not so big: a pack of four CO2 cartridges for 135$, each cartridge is rated for 2.5 hours.
Replacement of four O2 cells will cost you 44$ x4 =174$
Annual service of electronics (calibration of CO2 & Helium sensors, electronics & wiring checks etc.) costs about 130$

...Helium sensors...

this is the first i've heard of Helium sensors, can some corroborate? Hmm, maybe the three tank CCR isn't all that far away... (imagine, pure HE in one tank, Pure o2 in another and pure N in the third, whilst using ones BO for dill... ok, logistically, it could be a nightmare, but still:D)

i'm really trying not to get excited about buying yet another rebreather...:sos:

faceless - it's hardly the sub $1000 rebreather that it was touted to be

almity1 - why did you end up going down the RB route?

That may be OK from your where you are standing....

To get things into OZ things basically double in price.

Products
------------------------------------------------------
1 x Rebreather monitor (OS_mCCRMonit) = $1,490.00
1 x Apocalypse Type IV mCCR (Apoc_Type_IV) = $995.00
------------------------------------------------------
Sub-Total: $2,485.00
Zone Rates (Shipping to AU : 19.5 kg(s)): $60.00
GST: $254.50
Total: $2,799.50

Based on the current X/rate of 0.61 then this works out at AUS$4517, add $300 for duties etc and you have a $4.8K unit.

I am sure there are other bits and bobs that need to be added to the configure like cylinders etc. Around $6K

Consumables and Service can be double or triple of the above prices, depending.

And finally, something to think about, what piece of dive equipment that has been released to the mass market HASN'T had issues???

The jury is still out...
