Just thought I'd let you all know I've just spent the weekend diving at St Abbs. Fantastic diving - and made all the better by using my new reg - Apex ATX200 - what an ace piece of kit.
I've had the TX100 and TX50 for a long time and have always been nothing other than totally impressed the quality of their kit.

I've got about 350 dives on the ATX 200. I may do the rebuild, or may not. It is a rock. I love them more and more every day.

I've heard also from several dive shops and sme fellow divers that Apex ATX 200 is very good regulator, along with easy to maintenance and low price spare parts.
Will consider it when I need a replacement for my current Scuba Pro MK15 combined with G250

Can you tell me what the major differences are between each of these Apeks regulators? Their website shows them all, but doesn't really explain what makes all of their regs different...

Hi SeaJay

I have also Apeks Regs. The tx200 is indeed the best reg i EVER saw.

The differences:

TX20= Reasonable for warm waters.
TX40= OK.
TX50= Good.
DS4= Very Good.
ATX100=Really Good.
ATX200= Monsterous GOOD! Simply the Best!:D

This whole web site is all over Apeks as the leading reg by far, I've picked one up, held it, read the instruction manual and i'm not really impressed. Seems kinda run of the mill. I have no experience with the Apeks line because as I mentioned in one of my posts I have had a hard time in Cincy, Ohio finding one! I'm aware that if I go to say Palau and my Scubapro reg fails or maybe even my Aqua-Lung fails I would hope that parts would be readily available but how about Apeks? What was the major factor that put you over the Apeks line because I'm having a hard time convincing myself that Apeks is one for me to consider. If I'm not mistaken each manufactuer of scuba gear makes something really good and the rest of their gear not as good The Apeks line is made from the owners of SeaQuest? Who I think makes the best line of BCDs, Only my opinion Though! like I think that Scubapro might make the best reg(Warning: this Is only MY opinion and not the opinion of this station) but this Whole apeks thing maybe i'm not giving this reg due attention as my first reg....thanks Eric

Erik:
Your making a good point about availability of parts/servicing.
Apeks seems to come from Europe and we North Americans need to be concerned about getting replacement parts and kits for servicing.
I'm still a little confused about the origin of Apeks as I was told that my husbands Zeagle 50D 1st stage is acutally an Apeks Ds4. It's a really good reg. but I find it a bit heavy and that the Apeks ATX200 is lighter and has a smaller profile.
I was wondering if the Apeks is like a generic name that different companies (Zeagle, Seaquest) use in their regs?
Like you, I don't want to discount a good reg. since I'm hoping to have it for a long time and so want to buy smart the first time (actually the second time around)
If anyone out there has info. they'd like to share on Apeks - share away please!!
:confused:

My LDS (upstate NY.. not exactly Scuba capital of the world) sells and services Apeks regulators, so the brand is not exactly absent in North America :)

Thanks Nick
good site for info. except it says there is only 1 dealer in Canada and that they're located on the west coast. I live closer to the east.
I'm concerned about getting parts/servicing.
It looks like a nice reg. though so I'm continuing to investigate.
On a different not: ever hear of the company Beuchat?
I wonder if they're comparable in performance?
Anyone out there know about Beuchats' regs?
