I have an Egress and have used it off and on for several years as an Octo on travel regs, during my DM class, as an Octo on my main regs, in mid 40 degree water, and on my pony, in the low 40's. It has never free flowed or given me any problems. It may not breath as well as well adjusted adjustable 2nd stage but it is not bad and does not need to be in an upright orientation to work well.It looks similar to the AquaLung puck Octo but is completely different internally.
