Can an Apeks DS4 and/or DST first stage go from yoke to din? I have seen the din to yoke in a few places but not the other way around, including the Apeks site.

Here's the basis of why I ask...

I currently have 2 alum80 tanks with yoke valves and an Apeks Tx50/40 combo with the DST swivel reg in yoke.

I am considering getting the DS4 non swivel as I am working toward going to a double tank setup with manifold but it will be a while. (The whole rig then would be 2 din valves for the tanks, manifold, and 2 din ds4 regs).

I would normally of course now get the yoke version of the ds4 since that is what I will be using for the near future, but if I cannot go to din later on, I would rather get din setup and the yoke adapter now.

I was just looking around and saw an online manual that says an authorized dealer must perform the yoke to din conversion. Does anyone have experience with this? The din to yoke is about 35$ or so at DiveINN and I imagine a dive shop would cost a lot more than 35$ to do the yoke to din.

Thanks, think I answered my own question but if you all have any insight let me know.

Tommy

From what I have seen on another persons reg, yes, it is possible with convert your Apeks to DIN without major surgery. And if I remember, it is a relatively simple thing to do.

One of the best folks in my area to ask this is Alec Rank of Southern Scuba. He is a big fan of the Apeks line and is also the southern regional rep for TDI/SDI. He should be in his shop 11:00a to 5:00p Sunday. I'll PM you the phone number.

Hello,

On my apeks reg I have that $35 item that converts from it's base DIN config to a yoke config. Part # ap2011. There is a yoke to din adapter (don't have the part number) and it seem that some people find they stick out abit to far.

Hey Tommy,

Changing the DS4 from yoke to DIN and back is very easy. All you need is a large cresent wrench and a metric allen wrench. It only takes about two minutes to convert. Let me know if you need detailed instructions.

I see that you sent me a message, but I accidentally deleted it. E-mail me again.

Who can send detailed instructions regarding the conversion?

Thanks - Patrick

Hey Mike,

I'm facing the same problem, about to buy an Apeks reg but I'm gonna be diving yoke tanks for now but at some point go tech with dual tanks and DIN.
And I'm sure I'll be banging my head in the first stage if I get the DIN version + a yoke adapter.

Can you send me a brief on the conversion? What parts are required etc...?

Thanks!

Anton

All you need is a 3/4 inch box wrench (don't use a cresent wrench) and a 6 mm hex key. Careful not to over tighten as the reg body is brass and the threads will strip.

Here is a link to a service manual that may help you out.
