was wondering what you guys paid for your AOW course excluding the dives.
And which agency.
For SDI I had to take 4 courses at $75 apiece.
Add 3 books at about $30 each.

What about your agencies?

I think it varies more from LDS to LDS rather than agency to agency. I paid $300 for my PADI AOW, it included all books, a DVD, and dives. I've heard of places charging a lot less, but rarely much more than that.

PADI AOW in Kona Hawaii $230 covered everything.

My PADI AOW cost $180 in the Philippines and covered everything, except I only borrowed the textbook from the instructor.

Did mine through PADI at scout camp when I was a wee lad. Cost me $150 and they gave me a dive light. It was probably the best deal I ever received in diving.

I never even looked at a book though. I'm not sure that is such a good thing.

I got certified about 6 months ago cost me $175 for 2 days class, 2 days pool time and 2 days lake time (I do not have an ocean close) I also got the PADI book

It all depends on what is included in the class if you want to compare costs.

I've seen it for several hundred bucks or down to $89 bucks. But some places include books, checkout dives (and boat trips), air fills, etc. Some don't

I gave my instructor $15 for the processing fees, $10 for the park entrance fee, and bought him lunch (about $10). :)
