Been waiting a couple of months to update my dive profile to the next level as far as number of dives. Dive buddy (wife) and I got number 18 a couple of months back and have not been able to update. Well I just gotta tell ya'll that we got in 9 more dives this past weekend in Key Largo as well as completing our AOW cert. What a weekend!
Did our first night dive (not part of AOW), and the Speigel X 2. We did Fish ID, PPB and Wreck for the electives. Water was a little rough Saturday but we had been spoiled on most all of our previous dives, so we deserved to experience it. The current on the stern of the Speigel (on Sunday) was very mild. It picked up a little as we moved to the bow and that was a good experience as we ascended up the line and hung on for our SS. Super weekend. Ate at the new HOBO's twice. The only thing that went wrong was a back-up light flooded on the night dive. We saw a HUGE turtle, many sea urchin, lobsters, a huge crab, small octopus and squid and lots of little things looking at us from the distance in the dark. Awesome!!

Did I mention we enjoyed it.:D :D

Congrats on AOW. Its a good feeling to accomplish some more challenging dives and to gain the requisite skills. Next you ought to do Rescue -- one of the best and must useful courses you'll ever take.

Congrats onm the AOW!

You are making me want to go to Florida to do my check out dives! haha I may have to settle for Blue Water Adventures for my AOW dives. (Still a nice place, just a wee lil cold. :)

As we descended on the first deep dive we saw 4 (300 + lb.) grouper. They hung around for a while. We also swam through some of the hallways of the Speigel and I thought we did well not kicking up silt.

Also on our final reef dive on Saturday we did our first swim through of a reef. We were at Christmas tree caves. As Angie (dive buddy) was doing her Fish ID she took me back in the swim through to show me a very large green moray near the entrance or exit depending on which way one was going.

Next purchase will probably be Ned Deloach's books.

Congratulations! I'm quite jealous. Your AOW beats the crap out of mine, which recently took place in beautiful Blue Springs Quarry in lovely Waldron, Indiana. "Hey, did you see that huge bluegill! Wow!!" :(

Congrats, we did our AOW last weekend also, but in chilly grand traverse bay. Seen some bass and the biggest carp i ever saw, also a bunch of burbot(the native white fish of the great lakes called a Lawyer fish).
