Hopefully someone might have used the Halcyon NiMH battery canisters for heating a Santi Flex 2.0 or BZ400X etc? Information from Halcyon about these batteries is almost non-existent - no idea what the voltage output is or how constant it is, or how many watts it can output. If anyone has any info please let me know!

Toss those and rewire the canister for Li-ion which has double the energy density. They haven't been sold in a decade and if they haven't been meticulously maintained and topped off, they won't hold crap for a charge either.

NiMh cells are 1.2V each.

Halcyon are still selling new ones - Halcyon Dive Systems - have the batteries in them been sitting around somewhere for ten years?

Airline rules will allow a 13.5Ah NiMH on a plane without any special permissions etc, but the airline rules won't allow a Li-ion above about 7Ah without special permissions, and even with the special permissions the most you will get permission for is about 11Ah/160Wh - and when your journey involves three different airlines from three different countries then getting all of those permissions is not at all easy. Just finding out from the various airlines who within the airline and how to contact them can be ridiculously difficult. So a Halcyon 13.5Ah NiMH is a much better option for me I think - if I can just get some goddamn info about them!!

Shrugs. I have flown with 100-160 Wh li-ion many times.

If you actually look for them retail (like at EE) you won't find them because the market for those NIMH batteries is nil. So more like "a website artifact"

If I was just flying on airlines in say the U.S. and Australia then it would be doable, but trying to contact the right person to get permission at say an airline in the Middle East because you are going to the Red Sea - not so easy, and there is no way in hell that you will be able to sneak a 150 Wh lithium battery past their security checks - these guys are very very thorough - as in you will probably empty out all of your carryon onto a table at least twice for the airline's security checks - after you have gone through the airports security checks - and not just at the start of your journey but also at every stop on the way to - even if you flew in on the same airline that you are flying out on again (e.g. Emirates transiting through Dubai).

Good luck persuading them they aren't li-ion inside. And nobody builds NIMH canisters anymore cause there's zero market for them. So you'll have to make your own.

Or I dunno, stop flying suit heaters to Dubai

The Halcyon one that I linked to above is complete battery with canister and E/O cord.

Wouldn't need a heated suit if wasn't doing over two hours of deco

Yes and Halycon does not sell direct, they are a manufacturer not a retailer. It's not available at any retailer because nobody wants a NIMH pack anymore. Which is why you arent finding any information about it. I already told you NIMH cells are 1.2V each. It would have a 14.4V nominal voltage except its basically no longer made nor sold.

If you really want a NIMH heater pack just make one yourself to go in a light monkey canister with lid.
