Yeah, good call! That forecast was way off.....except for the seas...:11doh:

Was a perfect day! So it seemed. Met up with Rafael for some shore dives on cape ann. Low tide was at 10am which was the expected start of dive#1. I was trying to get us to a site that had an easy entry and also was interesting so we checked out Lobblolly Cove. Got lost going to the site and luckily we were given directions by Cape Ann Divers. Looked fine from the shore when we arrived. Sunny skies, perfect temps, light breeze...After being warned about having cars towed at the site I decided to park at pebble beach and walk it.....blah! Finally in the water, all is good (I think by now it's close to noon). Well the waves seemed to have gotten a bit larger since I parked the car... We fin out to the breakers and as we werent making much headway decide to descend and swim out past them....hoping once we clear the cove conditions will improve. Well, the surge was pretty intense...vis was @5-10', better than we expected actually, it was very bright. So I was hanging onto rocks as the surge came in and then would just let it pull me out with it. Well, I thought this would diminish as we got outside the cove but it wasnt letting up. I decided to ascend to take a peak to see how far we'd gone. I was pretty surprised when we surfaced that we were already outside the cove and the swells were quite large. After a quick discussion we agreed it would be best to abort because getting back in would have been a *****.

Well, it wasnt a wasted day. Got to meet another SB member - gotta get back out there asap and make up for it Raf! Finally got my camera in the water, of course no underwater shots...Tried out a hp120...wow(added to the wish list). Always nice to get wet, even if most of the time was spent reclining on the surface.:D

You should have taken your own advice and dove in RI! ;)

I was out on a research vessel towing a sensor around Narragansett Bay all day for work and the water was dead calm.

ARRRRGGGHH!! :D Well, I knew it might be hairy in MA, just picked the wrong site. Oh, another lesson learned today - If you get an eye roll when you tell the LDS where you plan on diving, you should really choose a different site. Preferably one they suggest...;) I wish I had more time to check out the other sites...even pebble beach looked flat in comparison.

it was blowin pretty good outa the north last weekend and conditions at weatherll where decent....
well untill i got around the corner. then i felt like a kite in a hurricane in the current

Yeah, we were in that a few weeks ago, it was kinda mild but we werent making any progress going against it. At least it was coming in...I'd hate to be around that corner when its going out like that.

Any bugs???

i saw a few
but havent renewed yet so i didnt bother with em much...
id like to hit that as a night dive in a few more weeks

What is going on John, hey, thank you very much, it was fun, a good learning expereince, i hope we can dive again soon.

Take care.
