Anyone up for going out to Catalina next weekend? I just got a killer deal on a used DR backplate and harness and want to take it to the dive park to dial it in. Perhaps 2-3 dives? we could even take a later ferry and make one of the dives a twilight dive. I am totally flexible as far as which day and time.

Hey Dazedone, a few of us are already headed there on Saturday the 23rd. Over on the 830 am, back on the 630 pm. I am going to work out weighting with the new drysuit, and perhaps try out a JetHarness as well...

It would be great to see you!

Hey Dazedone

Is this your first bp? If so try to read some on how to fit it. Or better yet get some help.

BTW
You guys have it way too easy down there in those semi tropical waters. Only hope I can make it down there in November. In the meantime I will have to be happy with our equivalent of Casino Point which would be Pt Lobos.Same easy entrance but quite a swim for clearer water.

Does it surprise anyone that I will be there, too? I didn't think so.

Conditions this weekend: fairly good vis deep and early in the day, combination of surge in shallower waters and low tide wiped out the vis by late afternoon. Tides won't be a big issue next weekend though. Temp at depth (say 70') about 62-65 F).

No diving for me today (Sun). It looks like rain and I certainly wouldn't want to get WET while diving!!

Next weekend, the gimp hits the water for the first time since the unfortunate incident.

Got my huge Chuck Taylor clown shoe to jam over footzilla (no way I can get my Rock Boot on this thing.) Looking forward to getting back into the water again, for sure. Jaye and I will be there.

Hope the tide isn't TOO low. I'd like to just sort of slide in and slide out on the steps.

We'll see.

I'm pretty excited.

Hey Ken... saw Arnaud at the Point this weekend and he said you would be diving next weekend. Great news... maybe a little water will dampen your whines! Just kidding. Look forward to seeing you and Jaye.

Ah yes, you had mentioned you had a drysuit on order when we were last at CP together. I will book myself on the same ferry. I will PM you my cell number so that we can find each other on the ferry and meet up. See you all then.

Dr. Bill,

What do you expect conditions to be this upcoming Saturday? Will rain make a difference? :06:

The storm is raging outside as I write this. So far it doesn't seem to have a lot of heavy rain, and being the first "major rain" of the season I think much of it will soak in rather than run off. I think the forecast is for the weather to settle down starting Wed night so things may clear up by the weekend.

Well it looks like it might be a good weekend after all! Hope it stays like this afternoon...One question. Where do we obtain the permit to go out to the Valiant? Is it worth going to? Thanks!
