Well there ya go. Humans aren't perfect, so dive shop owners must not be either. So they are crooked? Do you perfectly follow the letter of the law in your business?

I am just totally floored that you have argued continually that statements about Mexico shouldn't be applied to Coz because it isn't like other part but yet you tar the police with one brush and say they are all the same. And you said EVERY POLICE FORCE, not some police forces.

And also nice that you say no human is perfect, so no cop is perfect, but cops must be perfect, so I guess they all are crooked more or less. From a business perspective, do you have many cops who dive with you? I am just saying....

Also from a safety perspective, you just downed all the police in Cozumel. That ain't exactly for the tourism brochures.

Don't get nasty Richard - calm down! We have some serious selective reading going on here!

First of all, read my posts again, even though I thought I clarified it in my follow up - I NEVER, EVER said that EVERY cop is crooked or that entire police forces are crooked! I said that every force has SOME corrupt officers, JUST LIKE I said, EVERY INDUSTRY has good and bad people!

Show me where I "downed all of the police in Cozumel"? Again, I said there are SOME corrupt cops - it is true. There are also many excellent cops that are honest, hard working, and intelligent - as I said in a previous post!

I also said that humans are not perfect - I am human, therefore I am not perfect either - I never claimed that I was! I also said that "corruption" varies in level - to me, "corruption" among police forces can vary from preferential treatment of someone committing a crime/violation all the way to blatant acts of corruption such as extortion. Please stop twisting and turning every morsel of my words into something they are not. When you start mixing comparisons - they just don't match up!

Geeez! I respectfully disagree with you on something and you start publicly attacking me???? I am on your side!!!!

OK - so I had immediately edited my previous post to add that of course there are hard working, honest, intelligent cops here and on every force - everywhere! For some reason my edit didn't appear! Sorry for that!

In the mountains our finest spend their time giving out tickets. I never hear about Cops doing anything good in the community.

Seriously? All they do is enforce the law? You should move. Our Cops deliver our takeout and come by on Sunday to put out trash cans by the curb for pick. You should call someone....

We don't have much crime,

Funny, I just read that Denver has a violent crime rate higher than the national and Colorado average.

but my wife did get a ticket five years back for doing 26mph in a 20 zone. It's almost impossible to do 20mph on this steep downhill road, and the cops know it.

The cops KNOW it? Those darn.... You should tell the cops to change the speed limit. I mean I guess the cops make all the laws in Colorado? You don't make those elected types do things like that? And Christi SAYS letter of the law you know....

Maybe the Cops in Coz do a better job....

Well maybe you can like Coz cops then.....

My dear Christi, I am NOT attacking you. I really think perhaps you don't realize what you are actually saying. You are too nice a person to intentionally insult every police force in the world.....

I have a friend who works for a one man police force. You are saying he is crooked as there must be one. Another friend of mine who was shot to death last year was from a one man force more or less. I didn't attack you, but you DID say every department has a corrupt officer. You can't see that is the same as saying every town in Mexico has the cartel in it and every one is unsafe? You statement is insulting to the men and women serving in police forces around the world. Not all of them have corrupt officers, not all dive shops have corrupt employees, not all towns in Mexico are unsafe.

The difference is you said EVERY INDUSTRY has corruption and so does law enforcement. Well of course that is correct. You didn't say EVERY COMPANY has corrupt people, but you did say EVERY POLICE FORCE has corrupt people. You are applying the global to the specific. It doesn't follow. I could spend some time constructing the logical argument to highlight the fallacy, but surely you get what I am saying.

OK - I see where the misunderstanding is and of course I don't mean to insult the men and women that serve and protect our safety, etc. I thought I was making that clear - but of course I wasn't applying my own thinking to those one man forces, I honestly didn't know those existed - haha! Where I thought I was being clear I should have really expressed that my mind was thinking of mid to large sized forces where bad apples are inevitable (again in every industry). I don't blame forces for this, as long as they clean out the bad seeds when they find them.

I'll accept that law enforcement has corruption just as every industry has corruption - I see exactly your point now - and I apologize for not seeing it before and I apologize profusely for offending anyone - even though it was certainly unintentional!

....first the spanking and now the kissing and making up. Ain't that nice? I love a happy ending. :D

By the way, I stayed at Blue Angel this past summer and found the entire operation to be top notch.

There ya go. Now we agree again. No blanket statement about cops or Mexico. Now if you want to pick on the firefighters.... (just kidding. We know you firefighters would all be cops if you has scored a few points higher on the test....)

Can I please be excused now? I have divers to meet for dinner - GUIDO's - YUM :) Please play nice while I'm gone and have a great weekend everyone! :)
