The 1st and 2nd stages I picked up this weekend from CL for 50.00. The Octo I got last fall at a thrift shop for 2.50. Everything works great. I know nothing about them though.

The octo is a Prosub and woks better than any reg Ive ever used.

Sherwood is from the early to mid 80's.....look for a date where the hose joins the 2nd stage, some do, some don't.
The Prosub is mid to late 90's.

This one has F87. pat.pending number is 3991785
My guess would be then its from 1987? Older than I thought but, for a 22yrold reg is still darn good. I will be replacing the mouthpiece with a seacure though as its not very comfortable.

Sounds right for the age.
Before spending too much on this reg just check that it bubbles from the dry bleed when pressurized. If it doesn't it may need a new piston...one of the more expensive parts.
Have you tried a comfobite mouthpiece?

It does bubble, I thought it was a leak til I talked to the LDS owner. I took it in to ask him about that. It does have an o-ring leak on the hose but thats an easy fix.

We did a pool session with it on Saturday.

I have not tried the comforbite, never even heard of it. My husband is stickler for the seacure so he will probably prefer me to have that since its what he and his folks use. Ill check into it tho.

I agree. If you don't know anything about Sherwoods, they as susposed to have a small stream of bubbles coming out of the black rubber plug you can see on your photo. The only reg I know of that needs work when it's not leaking. :) Those are solid work horse regs, nothing fancy but high on my "if I were on a deserted island what reg would I want" list.

Wonderful to hear. I'm guessing 50.00 for it was a good price then? It will be my primary until we can get a newer set up (hubby uses a mares proton metal). The guy I got it from, it was his backups backup.

Put a battery in the transducer, sell it, and it will pay for repairs and dinner as well.

LOL the transducer is my Husbands for his Suunto. We put it on this rig to keep track of any air loss. He might not be happy with me selling that.

OOps. Do it anyway but take him too.
