It shouldn't be a problem. I have to completely vent my tanks most of the time when I need a partial pressure fill. They are obviously empty when I send them in.

As Scubatoys is a dive shop, I don't see their VIP sticker looking like an "internet VIP sticker". Solutions to these issues can be found in the Oxygen Hacker's Companion by Vance Harlow.

Maybe if you took it to the local fire station, they could fill it a little for you...

Hey, Furner. I've found Mike at American Dive Zone to be very reasonable with this type of request. Broadmoor, just S. of 28th street.

I think I am actualy going to go over there tomorrow and just buy a tank from them. They are $150, and that inludes a vis and fill. I am looking at $140 shipped from scubatoys, and then I have to go and get it filled anyways. I might as well try and establish a good relationship with a LDS, and at that price, I wont be too broke.

Went to American Dive Zone, and I couldnt be happer (or more in debt). Unlike the Berrien County shops I used to go to, ADZ gave me a full fill (3300), instead of the 2800 i used to get on my rentals. And I got a Thermo DIN/Yoke valve without the usual $10 upcharge.
Glad that I just got it over with, I now have every piece of gear I need to dive whenever I want. I just cant wait til I get to Higgins so I can get some diving in!

Mike's been good to me too. He re-fills ponys for free, give a hot fill on all high pressure tanks, and doesn't mark everything up 300% in the shop.

Plus, he's a nice guy.

I don't necessarily LIKE a high temp fill on my tanks, LOL. Now, I can live with a slight overfill that was done slowly enough to not heat my tanks up by much, :) .

But, it is nice to know that I know of a place that I can go to if I happen to be in that area. I like to collect the names of good dive shops as I don't do a lot of internet business (if you don't count my new dive reel coming in).

What I do is tell Mike I like a good fill, and leave the over night. He fills them, lets them cool overnight and tops them off the next day. It's no unusual to ha 3600 in a high pressure 100 cf steel tank. That's a nice fill -- and for the same $5 you can spend anywhere else.

Thats what they did with mine. When I walked in, it was sitting at about 2900, and the nice woman took it in the back and cranked it to 3300 for me.
