I just don't log dives
My buddy and I are new divers looking for anyone with a kind heart and the know-how to go lobstering with weekend after next. We've got the permit, catch bag, gauge, flag, and cooler. All we need now is the expertise and experience. Any takers?

Victor

I will.

I only charge 1/2 of anything you catch while under my instruction.:eyebrow:

Captain Jim Sullivan from the BHDC, gives this class, check his web site.

Good luck with the bugs.

Whats in the cooler?? I only charge 2 (or 3) Cold Beers! Post-Dives of course. Nothing fancy either! The "Champagnee of Beers" or something with "Just a Kiss of the Hops" will do it

  1. Find lobster under rock
  2. If within reach, put hand under rock
  3. Curse at lobster for pinching you
  4. Grab lobster
  5. Pull lobster out of hole
  6. Curse at lobster for pinching you again
  7. Cry a little because it hurt even more that time
  8. Measure lobster
  9. Curse because it's too small/has eggs/is v-notched
  10. Return lobster
  11. Repeat until you find a legal lobster
  12. Put lobster in bag
  13. Repeat until low on gas

How much are you paying me?

Here's a great article written by a local diver and SB member. It's a good place to start. My wife and I didn't have anyone to show us how to lobster but it didn't take long to figure it out. I was a wuss when I started last season, and the number of lobsters I caught reflected that. Now I'm more inclined to go in after them and I've been doing better. Pay attention to the part about judging the size of the lobster you're about to attempt to catch. It'll save you a lot of time, effort, and gas. I really like the line in the article, "If it ain't scary... it ain't legal!” It really is true though. If it doesn't look big enough to do damage and make you think twice about reaching in after it then it probably isn't worth the effort to go in after it.

P.S. I also recommend reading the book, The Secret Life of Lobsters. It'll give you an understanding of why they do what they do.
