Only that KFI reported a fatality Saturday morning. I called KFI after they reported it to see if they had any more info, but they couldn't give any more info until the next of kin was notified. Haven't found anything since then. I PM'd Dr. Bill but haven't heard back yet.

Saw this on another board, so it's secondhand, but...

i dont have a ton of information on what happened. the information i have is from a friend that arrived shortly after the death. a male diver in his 20's was diving casino point and about 6 min into the dive shot to the surface from 70 feet. his buddy thought they had gotten seperated and on a search for him found him on the surface about 20 min later reg out of mouth. he was declared dead on site.

I just returned from giving a talk in San Diego and received Jim's PM. I heard of that death, and apparently another off a dive boat, but didn't arrive home until 5:30 PM. I will see if I can find any details on this and the other reported incident and post them.

MHK:
I haven't heard any of the details, anyone know what happened?

I spoke with a diver yesterday afternoon who said he witnessed the victim being pulled from the water. He said it was a "heart attack". The victim was found floating solo in the park. I do not know how the witness ascertained that it was a heart attack.

My sympathy goes to the family.

According to the Baywatch report in Thursday's Avalon Bay News:

"1005 hours Friday: [agencies involved]... responded to a report of a diver in full arrest found floating face down by Avalon Harbor Patrol outside the 250 row moorings. Lifeguard Paramedics and firefighters assessed, treated and transported the patient."
