JKSteger:
skierch,

Unfortunately I can only dive either Sat. or Sun. I've planned with the "little lady" that I would be absent Sat. So I cannot make the dive on Sunday. If Sunday's work better for your schedule let me know and I will alternate between Sat. and Sunday.

The hardest part of Sunday dives is tank availability but If I could rent a tank of air from you that would resolve any problem with Sunday dives.

Hi Jeremy

Saturdays dive
Corigan, JKSteger, his brother and I all met up Saturday morning at West Bank Park. The weather was beautiful clear skies and a temp of about 61 degrees. Water Visibility was about 8-12 feet with temperatures around 44 degrees. We spent the first dive looking for a prescription mask I lost a few weeks ago, but alas we came up empty handed. All we saw were bits of old trash and a couple of crawfish. JKSteger and his brother were only able to do 1 dive, but Corigan and I spent about an hour topside and then went back for a second dive. The water temp was not too bad during the first dive, only my hands were cold, but everything got cold during the second dive so we cut the dive short at 30 minutes. Overall, it was a good day to get wet and I enjoyed diving with you guys. Looking forward to the next time.

Anyone up for Saturday 2/12 or Sunday 2/20

That about sums it up. I spotted what appeared to me to be a metal napkin holder at 60' or so. It's crazy what you'll see in Lanier. It was a great day of diving, and it was a pleasure to be able to dive with you all. Hopefully one of these days we will find the now famous "MASK". When you can just stand around comfortably on an early february day during an SI, it's a good day. I'm hoping the weather holds out. I would like to try for a dive 2/12. Of course as you know my profession, if it rains all week I might have to work 2/12. I'm going to play it by ear but am keeping my fingers crossed as I would like to dive again next weekend.

I'll be up for this one, guys.
Wasn't satisfied with the way the outter shell on my wing was acting so I sent it back to Dive-Rite Express for replacement. Was hoping I'd get my new one Friday, but it didn't happen. Didn't really feel like rigging up the old wing for just one day of diving.

We WILL find the mask. It is now a mission from Posiedon . . . !!!

Right now they are calling for 54 degrees and Sunny on Saturday. Of course we all know this can change in a heartbeat, but lets keep our fingers crossed. Looks like they are calling for a few days of clear weather ahead of it as well, so I should be able to make it out to dive this weekend. Looking forward to seeing The Kraken, ScubaPT, and anybody else that might come out. I'll have more solid plans by the end of the week, but I am hoping to get another dive or two in this weekend. I do have to say a few times last weekend I thought to myself, "This is the best viz I've seen in Lanier yet." I was estimating 15'. Pretty decent day and I am hoping the conditions/sites will be that good this weekend. I was talking to ScubaPT about it, do the different sites on WBP have names? If not maybe we could throw out a name system for them (cove #1, cove #2, for example). Would help for when we are planning on meeting. Cove #2 at WBP would be easier than everyone driving between the sites figuring out who is where.. :)

Identification sounds pretty good to me, Matt. I'll bring my map again and we can come up with something.

I'll bring my Sea Sign cards so you guys can have a look at them.

A friend of mine, and also a diver, has a whoooooole bunch of surplus ski rope. Was just thinking that perhaps we could make a trail. Any thoughts?

Matt, should I bring up a back plate?

Excellent, I think just a few minutes of effort on ID'ing the sites could save us time on meeting, and help us get in the water in a more timely fashion.

Cool, I've looked over their site and definately want to take a look at them. I haven't had the time/money to order me a set yet. I even mentioned them to a friend of mine who is getting into diving with his girlfriend. I told them that if they wanted to start diving with me they would need to learn these cards once I order them.

I'll help you lay it out, sounds like fun to me. Also sounds like a good idea to just have some sort of perm guideline for going out with new friends/divers.
Matt, should I bring up a back plate?
Yes, please bring one up. As long as I am able to make the dive I definately want to pick one up. I don't forsee why I won't be there, but if work beckons, I will have to work instead. We can work on building me a harness then in the next few weeks and getting a wing. I am wondering if I shouldn't be building an adjustable harness though since I dive in so many different suit combinations from week to week.

Matt, I already have webbing that you can have. I'll put a grommet in it so you can anchor it to the BP.
Oh, I had a couple of the keepers cut too, the ones that won't slide on the webbing.

Looking forward to checking out those cards, the website doesn't have as much info as I would like before purchasing.

Also, rigging up some type of trail sounds like a good idea.

I don't think I can make it 2/12. I would have more luck trying for 2/20. I second the motion for the trail idea. I would help out in any way I can.
