I've never been diving in Key Largo or Marathon. Will be traveling there Nov 11 to 18. Is it possible to do any shore diving around there, or is it all boat charters. I'm trying to make plans. Thanks for any input.

There are barely any beaches in the Keys...so...no beach diving. But if you really want a great experience, I reccomend Key Dives in Islamorada. "Carribean style diving", Meaning if ya want pampering ya got it. If ya don't, let them know and it's cool.Personally, I'm the kinda guy who likes to be pampered sometimes.

No beach diving in the Keys, and I wouldn't recommend bridge diving unless you really know what you are doing. The currents can be wicked. There are many excellent charters in the Keys, look at the Keys Info thread at the top of the Conch forum. If you prefer, come to the Fort Lauderdale area, we have the only "beach diving to a living coral reef" in the continental United States. Which is why I moved here 27 years ago and why I stay. ;)

The only shore diving with depth is in ramrod key. It is an old quarry that is sometomes used for OW when the seas are snotty(so I have been told, I have never dove there but checked it out from the surface)

Thanks for the info everyone. Boat diving will be great!!! Warm ocean is always better than cold Lake Michigan. I love my drysuit but can't wait for the ease of warm wetsuit diving.

Have a great trip I just got back from a Key Largo diving trip last week. I too was curious about shore dives, not gonna happen :) stick with the boats. You have gotten some great recommendations for boat charters already I see, I would like to add rainbow reef charters. They were top notch and I dove with them repeatedly.
Make sure you find time for a night dive!
