I was concidering a trip down there with my Buddy to FT Wetherill to do some video footage. I'm wondering what are the conditions like this weekend.

Thank you guys

We're going out there later. It's supposed to be showery today but tomarrow is just supposed to be cloudy with just a few showers in the morning. High tide is around noon and low tide is like around 5 or 6pm. I think the wind is supposed to be coming from an Easterly direction.

Thanks there little one. I'll be stayin tuned ;)

OMG Here we go again! You are really in no position to be calling ANYBODY little, especially me! I will considor giving you a report when we return, humph!

Don't worry.... at 6'3" tall 200lbs I'll be sure to loom over him next time I go diving with him.

Oh and Matt and I did Ft Wetherill this morning (we also ran into Scubasarus's fellow CT divers Bill and Joe there). We did the cove to cove dive. Max depth about 50ft. Water temp 61 degrees at depth. Air temp was only 45-50 degrees though. Rainy. The coves were still packed with divers even with the weather. RI Dive Club and one of the CT shops were both doing pumpkin dives plus there were at least 3 classes there.

Vis was probably around 10 ft, but with no sun it was pretty dark without a dive light.

i did a lobster dive last night. water was about 60 had about 10 feet of viz...
and for the firt stime in RI got my bag limit

Where were all you guys today, the conditions at Ft. Wetherill were LOVELY! ;) I just got back from diving there with johnnyseko. We dove there yesterday afternoon as well and it was a balmy 45 degrees with the water at a tropical 60ish :D This afternoon there was a lovely breeze and it may have actually hit a tropical 50 degrees! Yesterday vis. was about 10' in the right cove with a little thermocline action. Today the vis. in the right cove was a pretty normal approx. six inches and the left cove was great at about 13' with some lovely relaxing small swells. It was completely desserted both times we were down there, where were all you guys? You weren't COLD were you?

Cool finds/sitings for the weekend:
wee dive knife (mine now)
big-arsed hermit crab (taken hostage)
medium flounder (chased it)
small sleeping female tautog (chased it too)
lotsa perwinkles (tasty)
clam shells
small sea star eating a whelk
small sea urchin
anemones
oyster
big dead rock crab (covered in whelks, ewww)
baby flounder (leared at them from 2" away)
cusk eelsh thing (scared it when I nearly stepped on it)
sculpin
baby black sea bass (poked it)
more hermit crabs (leared at them too)
BIG ARSED HONKING NICE DIVE KNIFE!:11: (John's now)

Well thats a great find. We'll try again next week. Its I deal to have more light and better vis to do video with. I hope things settle down for next week.

We'll give it another shot

It's supposed to RAIN next weekend and even if it doesn't I will come over there and personally rain on your parade as payback for referring to me as "little one". You will learn!

Hey Gidds....seems you forgot to also mention the SI cookout! hahaha :11: :D

Seriously, was some good diving. Slowly perfecting the cold weather wet diver plan. At least the car was warm.....
