This looks to me like a barely disguised advertisement for tripality.com. the dude signed up today and his first post includes an alternative to sb website.
Looks like spam huh? We're supposed to ask him for an invitation...?

Or maybe he's looking for a dating site? Hehe, there are some that pretend to be singles sites.

Unless we have gotten silly with definitions of "social networking sites" this board fills the bill completely.

In that case, he should join the Fitness Singles site. That girl in their ad is way hot. :wow:

Except she's not a member. Actually there were some hotties at my last gym, but I avoided them - I was obviously in need to help!

This is very good forum but not a social network website. I got into diving recently and was looking for a website where I could connect with other divers etc.

Lets be honest a forum could be considered a social network 10 years ago but not now.

I think that the main deference is that a forum is organized around topics, posting a question and getting answers, social network on the other hand is organized around people and connections.

and btw I'm not advertising tripality.com.

here is another scubaplex.com but nothing is going on there

I can't speak for anyone else, but I've made a lot of connections with people here that I wouldn't have been exposed to otherwise. I can't think of any network anywhere that is more social than our very own DNY and some of the Cali and Florida groups. You get out of this site what you're willing to put into it.

You mean like the regional forums and the threads where divers are looking for buddies? Already here cuz.

thats fine but what about something like sharing your dives details experience (online dive log or something), finding divers planing to dive in the specific location etc. here I can ask if someone is going to let say Egypt in July and wait for replies. there is no way to see what diving plans users have without asking a specific question.

stuff like that you can't do here
