I am going to be heading to New Smyrna for a few days around Easter with my newly OW certified wife. I was wondering if anyone could reccomend any dives / dive operators in the area. All I am aware of is some wreck dives 10-25 miles off the coast, which would be great if I could handle seas in excess of 18 inches without chumming wide swaths of ocean.

I am aware from other posts there is some very good shore diving in Broward County. Any reccomendations of any good shore dives within 100 miles of the Daytona area?

If we drove down to Broward how easy are the dive entries to find? And, can you reccomend any sites or shops that lead shore dives.

Thanks a lot for any info you might have.

Offshore daytona there are several wrecks in 80+ water. There are also lots of springs in the area, you might want to try devil's den or paradise. Devil's den is close to gainesville, and paradise is around ocala.

Vero beach has bajillions of shore dives.

Pick up a copy of ned deloach's guide to underwater florida. It's under 20 bucks and it's worth its weight in gold.

If you want a dive buddy drop me a line.

Try this Op out of New Smyrna. I have taken several excellent trips with them. http://www.seadogdiver.com/entrance.htm
Also, try to get a prescription for the "Sea sick Patch” from your doctor. Those who get severe motion sickness tell me that it is the only way to go.
