Well I am heading over to the Edisto river this Saturday to check out a potential canoe launch area. I want to motor up the river using my Zuke 2.5hp four stroke (which I have on the toys to purchase list) I am hoping to find a safe place to leave my personal belongings while I fossil hunt the upper reaches of the river. I will take my trusty camera just in case I see any Angy, Meg, or Mastodon teeth laying in the edge of the river. In addition to scuba fossiling this season, I want to do some more snorkel wade around fossiling when the river is LOW.

Some nice little Edisto river teeth on this video posted by Kim

Guys, I am on a lookout for about 6 decent mako teeth around 1.5"-2" in length for some necklaces for some friends down here. If anyone has some for sale, please let me know.

Eberlein has some posted on his site Megateeth <- Click

Bill also has some already assembled and for sale

There are some Mako's in Vinson's collection. He keeps his "top dogs" elsewhere.

My favorite Mako is in this photo. Sorry, not for sale, its a keeper. Wanted to show it off.
Its blue and it has some size. Sometimes I carry it in my pocket for good luck.

For the guys starting out, I find this photo to be a great reference showing the difference
between a Great White and a Mako. I took this photo at the 2013 fossils show. Anyone
notice the labels were made with a TYPEWRITER. Gives us a clue as to when these
specimens were found.

Mike, hate to be the bearer of bad news but this weekend may be tough for diving.
The cooper is about 55 degrees, not sure about you but that is WAY to cold for me
The smaller rivers like the Edisto have a LOT of water in them, from the rain
Venice is going to have winds from 10-20 mph this weekend

I know only because I am also itching to get back in the water, been frozen out for waaayyy to long.

Here is a weak idea. Not much of one but it will get you out and on the river.
Mike we can get with Phil and do a river survey. We can search for gravel beds and potential scuba fossiling sites.
We can come back to them at a later date. Never mind, I just remembered the river will be too high this weekend

Just think Mike.... if things go well, this is where we might be three months from now. maybe on this boat and in this location

Sorry Lee I did not see your post about Friday or Saturday night. I would not have been able to make either night, but can do Sunday evening if ya'll want to. Just drop me a note.

Visited the Edisto river today, too cold to Scuba, for my
liking, so I took some photos

The water was high just as expected, but
it was good to see and old friend, the
Edisto River

Found an "easy to access" Edisto river feeder creek. Could easily produce Hemi's and Tigers,
maybe Angys.

More of the feeder creek. It is in a deep ravine, which had me
wondering if the tiny creek produced the deep cut. Also had
tannin stained water, but no leaves present.

The stones and the volume of stones were of interest to me. The color of
the earth was also of interest. This creek is located almost on top of
the Limestone Bluffs and the Cooper Marl. The limestone and the marl are
well known to contain fossil layers of the past

Close by was the Four Hole Swamp / Edisto River Intersection. I think a scuba fossiler
will find a fossil bed here. May be some Indian spear points and arrowheads
here also. Maybe I will scuba this one day

okay. will do Phil. will send over a private message and if you dont catch it, i will call.

also looking for some personal opinions on:

A 15hp Yamaha 4 stroke

compared to

a Mercury 15hp 4 stroke?

Merc is quite a bit cheaper but I heard some people hate Mercs. Also heard Mercs had some design problems with the much larger ones.

My priority is dependability
