I'll second waterpirates recommendation. The OC Diver is the best 6 pack I've ever been on. Most of the local dives on his schedule are less than 110ft though he does have some deep and really deep stuff too. You should try and get atleast one trip with him this summer.

I usually head to Rawlings (since I'm originally from Richmond) once or twice a year to work on skills. I'm probably going to hit the DUI Dog Days again this year because I'm gonna have to buy one of these days. I prefer not to go up to Dutch Springs. I want to give some of the local boats a chance but my weekends seem to fill up with NC dives or other travel.
I could do Rawlings one day, particularly if I could catch a day after my shift when I'm already half way there. Just curious, what don't you like about Dutch?

I usually go down to VB and dive with Lynnhaven. I will make the drive to Rawlings if I can't get wet anywhere else.

Have a trip next month to Jupiter Florida for 5 days of drift diving.

I don't know anyone in the area but if you need a buddy I am game, I work in Salisbury and live in Delmar.

I've went up to Dutch a couple times last here and didn't have the best experiences. The quarry itself is very nice with great facilities but we had less than pleasant experiences with the staff both times. We waited for almost three hours for air fills last time after being told it would take 30 minutes and the fill guy was extremely rude. I'm sure this is not the norm but I just now prefer to head down to Rawlings if I'm gonna hit a quarry. (Like Dog Days)

What I'd really like to find is a source for Nitrox fills around here. It really makes it difficult to dive without local fills. I have to get to Morehead really early on Friday nights to get fills for the Saturday dives. If I could fill during the week up here it would be great. I guess I'll have to keep adding to the piggy bank to put together my own fill station. :D

I've been thinking about giving Lynnhaven a try as well. Anyone know what the conditions usually are? What kind of exposure suit do you usually need down there?

Jamie: I'll see you Sunday on the boat. :D

I only go to Dutch mid week. I've had pretty good luck with getting fill within a reasonable time then. Two years ago the gut at the fill shack told me that the previous weekend they had done 800 fills total.

Plus mid week you almost have the place to yourself.

I believe Water World in Rehobeth Beach does Nitrox fills.

Have any of you folks given thought to Mt Storm?
If you're one who dislikes Drysuits or even thicker wetsuits, this might be the answer for you.
Water temps in the 80's are the norm as this is a cooling lake for the local coal burning power plant.
I'm planning to take the entire family up there and camp for the weekend at a local campground that has tons of activities for the rest of the family.
I can get a few dives in while there.
In addition, they have a local dive shop that hauls gear out there to rent tanks and provide refills right at the lake.
They have training platforms at several depths to 130 fsw for working on tech stuff.

If you can't make it to a beautiful tropical dive spot, this is the next best thing if you don't want to wear a wetsuit.
