Tried out my new BP/W setup (Oxycheq Sig 45# w/ Hammerhead Steel w/ 1 piece STA and webbing harness, a kit also from Hammerhead) on Tuesday, and I have to say thank you to the folks on Scubaboard that brought BP/W rigs to my attention. It has taken me 2 years to make the change, but I am very happy I finally did.

My BC (Oceanic Probe back inflate) used to shift up/down and side-to-side so my trim was always getting out of whack. The BP/W is rock-solid (to quote a line seen frequently on this board). The only problem I had was it took me a couple times to get used to the location of the pull-dump valve.

So, to the folks at OxyCheq and Hammerhead, thank you for your great products. And to all of the DIR and non-DIR fans of BP/W that have posted over the years, Thank you for the education.

Smart Move, and great equipment. You are going to love BP&W diving. I get my old Seaqurest Pro BCD out once in a while and I feel like I'm driving a truck. When I dive the BP&W I feel like I'm driving a Ferrari.

I chose the 45 for four reasons:

I am diving in monterey with a 7mm wetsuit and 5mm hooded vest. I usually dive steet tanks that start out -8 to -10, add in the steel bp 7lbs, and heavy STA 6 lbs. That is 23 lbs. I kayak dive so I gear up in the water. I wasn't comfortable throwing $1000 into the water with only 7lbs positive floatation.

When I don't use my kayak, I generally shore dive and I wanted the added bouyancy. The extra 2 - 3 inchs of clearance the 15 extra lbs of lift give makes a difference when kicking out through wind chop.

The way the Oxycheq is designed the 30# and 45# are the same size so the increased size makes no difference in streamlining.

Lastly, I wanted the signature line, and found one at a great price here on the Scubaboard classifieds.

I tested my new Eclipse in the pool last night for the first time. And I would like to add that there's ANOTHER satisfied BP/W here as well. The thing is freaking amazing. I ended up spending most of my time helping out with an OW class and the fact that I was in new equipment didn't slow me down one bit. In fact, life was much easier than it ever was in my old ginormous (I know it's not a word ;)) Seaquest Raider. As my first BCD the Raider will always have a special place in my heart... but not on my back.
I am converted, completely. It was as though I wasn't wearing anything. I could move how I wanted to move without fighting my BCD the entire time. It's hard to imagine a solid piece of steel could ever be so comfortable!
Can't wait to hit the ocean in it.

I also just took the plunge and bought a BP/W to see what all the hype is about. I just can't imagine it's going to be all that much better than my Ranger - besides being a little too bulky, I don't think there's one thing wrong with it - but I'm looking forward to being proven wrong.

The only problem is actually finding time to get out and dive it! It's been collecting dust for a week now and is going to continue to do so for at least another two.

I started with a pb/w... one day I gotta use a bc with pretty pink pockets and buckles just to see what all you guys are complaining about lol
