One of the downsides of online notification is the timing lag. This morning is an example I have seen a number of times. Currently the winds are NNW and expected to shift East, past North, around 8. With the port currently closed most PC's in the past have waited till the last minute to reopen it. If it reopened at 815 and the dive shop then sent out a message and then spent an hour or better waiting for the divers to stream in it would 930 or latter for launching. That extra hour or more would then cause those same boats to now be late for use in an afternoon dive and there is usually pent up demand for an afternoon dive directly following a closure.

Better to run an hour late than be closed completely.

There would be a lot less pent up demand for the afternoon if they get the morning trips out.

Port opened at 905
The airport is reporting 5 mph wind from the east so yay! Monday & Tuesday are forecast to have hard winds from the southeast but maybe the channel will be sheltered. Thursday looks wicked, subject to change. That norther is expected in the Texas central plains Tuesday.

Expect Wednesday night and Thursday to be blowouts in Cozumel. Wednesday early morning cold (36F) and 25 mph north winds in Galveston.

Up date as of Monday in Galveston: looks a little less ugly here but winds to be NW!

CZM airport is currently reporting 21 mph from the southeast. Is that a problem currently?

That front just hit the Central High Plains with 20 mph winds that could go to 35 & 40. Wow, WG is forecasting 19 to 31 mph in the wee hours in Cozumel Thursday morning, not getting much better all day or even all weekend. Batten down the hatches & everything else.

Sadly, as of Tuesday afternoon the 25th, expect 3 days of Nortes. Thursday, Friday and Saturday…maybe into Sunday.

Sorry
