I only have 21 nitrox dives. twice the mix was of more then 1%. not much more then that butonce it was of a lot. I asked for 32 and it was on the tank too. athe tank was 35.4 not good. Yes I always check.

My instructor was ADAMANT about mix checking. So am I. That said, I have done one weekend of diving without checking my mix personally, and it's because I didn't have my own alayzer, and the shops was ummm... suspect. However, with the depths I was doing, 50% would have been safe.

I will not fill Nitrox away from my LDS's again, until I have bought an analyzer. Too much risk.

i have to qualify my answer, since it's not an option

i don't dive Nitrox unless myself or my buddy has tested it. i know
i'm supposed to test it myself, but sometimes that's impossible and
i do trust my buddy to have tested it correctly when they arrive
at the dive site with the tanks

i think what i need to do is buy a tester and just carry it in
my car... of course... that costs money....

Not to step on the thread, but I have an additional question. How many of you diving doubles check both posts? After the incident in FL this year, and the subsequent testing and experimenting that went on concerming tank mixing, I always check both posts when diving doubles.

If I don't test it, I don't dive it ... no exceptions ...

I always check both posts when diving doubles.

I only ck one side. When I mix myself I make sure the iso is open and when I get fills elsewhere its always premix. I do need to invest in an analyzer.

At the shop I instruct for we won't let a tank out the door unless they analyze it in front of us and figure out their MOD

Bob_B:
I check my mix at the shop, every time i get a fill. I also check it prior to the dive if the tanks set for more that a day. The heat / cold and the movement of the tanks can change the mix.

The heat / cold, or movement cannot change the mix at all. It is true when you partial pressure fill that the tanks may not analyze correctly immediately after mixing. Once given an appropriate time for the tanks to mix the first time, the gasses will not separate. Temperature will effect the pressure of a tank, but not the mix.
